OFFICIAL RULES – 2013 Teacher of the Year Contest at izzit.org
- Eligibility and Timing: The izzit.org 2013 Teacher of the Year Contest (“Contest”) is open only to registered izzit members currently teaching grades K-12 in the U.S. who are (a) legal residents of the United States, its territories and possessions, (b) are at least eighteen (18) years old, and (c) not previous izzit.org Teacher of the Year Contest winners of the most recent 3 Contests (previous runners-up are still eligible to submit a new entry). Employees working for izzit.org and their family members are NOT eligible. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST. The Contest will run from 12:01am ET on September 05, 2012 through 11:59 pm ET on February 28, 2013.
- How to Enter: There will be five (5) Teacher of the Year winners and an additional five (5) Top Ten “runner-up” winners chosen from online entries which have been properly submitted during the Contest. izzit.org has the sole right to reject any entry. You may submit as many entries as you wish during the Contest by properly completing the Contest submission form accessed through the “Contests Page” at http://www.izzit.org/contests/index.php. By participating in the Contest, each entrant fully and unconditionally agrees to be bound by and accept these “Official Rules” and the decisions of izzit.org and its judges (including, without limitation, decisions regarding eligibility of entries, the selection of winners, and the prize awarding) which are binding in all respects. Each entry may be used by izzit.org in any marketing or promotional material that they choose. Each entrant hereby assigns to izzit.org non-exclusive rights to entry and name, including intellectual property without expectation of compensation or acknowledgement (other than the winning entrants).
- Judging. Selection and Notification: Each entry will be judged according to how well it describes using an izzit.org product or service to introduce students to the characteristics and benefits of a free society. Entries are expected to explain or provide evidence showing the impact the lesson had on the students. Between March 1 and March 31, 2013, all winners will be chosen and they will be contacted using email addresses they provided (only valid email addresses considered). Each entrant has one week from notification to contact izzit.org to claim their prize and provide shipping information or the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected. izzit.org is not responsible for lost or stolen prizes which have been shipped to the address indicated by the prize winners. A list of the prize winners will be available once all prize winners have been determined and will be provided by email request to: ask@izzit.org or by contacting: izzit.org, Attn: Teacher of the Year Contest Winner List, 2002 Filmore Ave, Erie, PA 16506.
- Prizes: Each Teacher of Year receives: $2000 cash, an all-expenses paid trip to Chicago, IL for an awards banquet*, a complimentary lifetime izzit PLUS membership, a complete set of izzit.org videos and an izzit fleece jacket or hoodie. Each Top Ten award winner receives: $150 cash, a complimentary lifetime izzit PLUS membership, a complete set of izzit.org videos and an izzit fleece jacket or hoodie. No substitution, assignment or transfer of any of the prizes is permitted. Winner is solely responsible for any and all federal, state and local taxes on the prizes.
- Publicity: Each winning entrant consents to the posting of his/her name, Contest entry, photo and comments regarding Contest at izzit.org and for advertising or promotional purposes without payment, consideration or consent. Within 14 days after receipt, winners will be required to complete and return a biographical/school information questionnaire, applicable tax forms and provide a recent, yearbook-quality, color digital scan or professional-looking camera image of just themselves in a 5x7 to 8x10” original size photo. Failure to provide this information within 14 days will result in forfeiture of prizes and an alternate winner will be selected. Winners will be posted on the Contest page for at least 30 days after they are announced.
- General Conditions: izzit.org reserves the right to postpone or terminate the Contest for any reason, including but not limited to information regarding electronic or non-electronic tampering related to the Contest. izzit.org reserves the right to disqualify any entrant it finds to be tampering with any portion of the Contest or to be acting in violation of the “Official Rules” or acting in a disruptive or inappropriate manner.
- Release/Disputes: Each entrant hereby forever irrevocably releases and holds harmless izzit.org, its parents, subsidiaries and affiliates, and all employees, directors and officers from and against all claims, damages or liabilities arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from the entrant’s participation in the Contest. Any and all issues regarding the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of any entrant related to the Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Pennsylvania law, and any action brought by any party related to the Contest must be located in Erie County, Pennsylvania.
- Limitations of Liability: izzit.org is not responsible for (a) incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information or late, lost, stolen damaged, altered, incomplete entries which will be disqualified (b) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of the web site, service provider hardware or software, (c) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any web site or service (d) electronic or human errors which may result in mistakes made in the administering of the Contest or the awarding of any prize (e) any injury or damages incurred by an entrant, including but not limited to an entrant’s computer, which may be caused, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from entrant’s participation in the Contest.
- Sponsor: The sponsor of the Contest is izzit.org, 2002 Filmore Avenue, Erie PA 16506.
* Teacher of the Year winners will be required to attend meetings and an awards banquet on June 19-20 in Chicago, IL. Required arrival at the venue is by 9PM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 and staying for the entirety of the event through June 20, 2013. If unable to attend for the entire event as required, their entire prize will be forfeited and a Top Ten award winner will be selected as a Teacher of the Year.
