2. What is the percentage rate of growth of full-time online high school enrollment over the past five years? 3. Why do you think online high schools are becoming more popular? 4. Why is online learning a better fit than traditional schooling for some students? 5. What are some negative aspects of traditional school that online learners might avoid? 6. Have you taken online classes? Would you consider enrolling full-time in an online high school? Why/why not? 7. Given that many homeschooled teens take online classes, what is the difference between homeschooling and attending an online high school? 8. With all of the other ways students can socialize outside of traditional school, e.g. sports leagues, community music groups, and clubs, should we be concerned that online learning is socially limiting? 9. In the age of social networking -- Facebook, MySpace, texting, Twitter, etc. -- is there reason to be concerned that students who take online classes will feel isolated? Why/why not? 10. To the extent that it replaces face-to-face interaction, could social networking lead to a feeling of isolation? Explain. |
