A tip in the form of a chocolate bar would change his life!

Born in communist China, Jimmy Lai was nine years old and working at a train station, carrying luggage, when he was given a chocolate bar as a tip. The boy vowed to go to Hong Kong, where the tasty treat originated. At twelve, he convinced his mother to allow him to be smuggled—alone!—to Hong Kong. Thus began the transformation of his life.

Now one of the richest men in Hong Kong, Jimmy Lai shares his incredible story of hard work, education, and perseverance.

Excellent. Emotional reactions of Jimmy Lai make it easier for me to convey the importance of economic freedom to my students, who don’t know what it’s like not to have it. I use this to tell my students how important it is not to take our freedoms for granted!

My students really liked this video because they realized how important one single event can be in their lives. We had a great discussion concerning that it wasn't about chocolate, but the taste of it propelling a human being to make incredible strides in his life and the effects his future decisions had on so many others on our planet. Keep them coming.

Great video, especially in these difficult economic times! My students were renewed with a "can do" spirit and were encouraged at the prospect of their own success in the future.

My students were enthralled with this video...and for them to watch so quietly and intently the last week of school...this says a lot.
